Life’s a bitch, and for Katrina and her two kids, that’s an understatement. Forced to streets at the age of 14, pregnant, with no where to go, Katrina had no choice but to run into the open arms of a pimp for comfort. After her daughter Nina is born, Katrina tries her hand at prostitution with the guidance of her pimp, to gain income to help provide for her daughter. Through her tricking she eventually becomes pregnant by one of her Johns with her second child, Jimmy. Back against the wall, Katrina does everything in the book to shield her kids from the seedy life she lives, and ultimately gets knocked for murder, leaving Nina and Jimmy to fend for each other. Neglected Souls is a touching story with good characters, but is in need of tightening to fix a few noticeable grammatical problems.

1. What did you like best about this book?
I liked how each character was developed carefully to leave a lasting impression on the reader.

2. What did you dislike about this book?
I would have liked to have read more dialogue and less narrative.

3. How can the author improve this book?
I would suggest that the author tighten the grammar and give readers a more intimate look at the relationship between characters via more dialogue.
