In the prequel, Neglected Souls, Nina was forced to to fend for herself as well as her younger brother Jimmy after her mother was sentenced for murder. The story is picked up a few years later with Neglected No More. Nina, now a married police Sergeant and mother of two, is still as feisty as ever as she battles with her department about her current suspension. Jimmy, once young and naive, is now much older and a bit removed from the demons of his past. Now married to his high school sweetheart and playing for the Boston Celtics, Jimmy is satisfied with all he has accomplished. Everything seems to be going just right for the Johnson siblings, until the skeletons in their closets are dusted off and past enemies begin to threaten their happy utopia. Jeanty's follow-up to Neglected Souls, proves to be thought provoking, visiting subjects such as organ donation, and an okay second installment in his Neglected series.

1. What did you like best about this book?
I liked that Jeanty brought to life the issue of organ donation, which is something that is not often discussed in the Black community.

2. What did you dislike about this book?
I didn't like that a large portion of the book was devoted to making sure the reader remembered the prior novel. I feel that in order for a sequel to be truly successful, it needs to be written in a way that the reader won't be bogged down and bored by the history of the character. The story should be written so that it can be enjoyed whether or not the first story was read.

3. How can the author improve this book?
I would incorporate the character history in a way that doesn't slow down the story. The characters were developed so well in the first installment I do not think that so many pages should be spent rehashing the past events.
