Told in the voice of a struggling steadfast 15 year-old, Angel, who hails from the thorny streets of Brooklyn, Miasha's Mommy's Angel will pull readers in by their heart strings. The pure desire to know if little Angel makes it out and wises up in time will keep you turning the pages. Written in a very accessible, and believable tone, the words of Mommy's Angel are easy to digest, making it a simple read for any afternoon. Although some pieces of the story seem a little forced or rushed, the twists will all come as surprises. Overall a nice third effort by Miasha.

1. What did you like best about this book?
I liked that the story was a real easy to read. It didn't take much analyzing or thinking to get the author's point.

2. What did you dislike about this book?
I didn't like that some of the twists thrown in seemed to pop up with out any hinting, but I guess that's why its called a twist right?

3. How can the author improve this book?
I would stretch the story out a little more, by adding more depth to the surprises presented in the last 20 or 30 pages.

"In the midst of all the same voices in literature, Miasha brings authenticity to the pages of this novel. She's the crème de la crème -- enjoy!"
-- Vickie M. Stringer, Essence bestselling author of Let That Be the Reason

"A poignant tale of innocence lost in Brooklyn."
-- K'wan, international bestselling author of Gangsta, Street Dreams, Eve and Hood Rat

"Mommy's Angel is a fast-paced, well-written, realistic view of what addiction does to our communities. It sheds a bright light on how the addict's hurt, pain, and trouble are recycled onto the people closest to them."
-- Danielle Santiago, author of Grindin' and Little Ghetto Girl

I didn't like this book at all. It was way to dark and depressing for me. I think Miasha's best work was Secret Society. This particular book I couldn't even finish.

This was the first book I read of hers but certainly not the last. I think she is a great author, and this was a great book, so far my favorite was diary of a mistress, and then sistah for sale that was an excellent book. The only one that kinda left me un-impressed was secret society, but there is a part 2 to that one so maybe it will get better. Good Work Miasha !

This book was good and I read that it was inspired by Miasha's personal upbringing in West Philadelphia.
