Reviewed by: Chasity Boone China Black is a successful African American business woman who is all about making money. A number of people in her world say that she is a drama queen, but as far as she is concerned she is well within her rights. In the book, Diamond in the Rough, you will be allowed to follow the decisions that she has to live with as far as the when's, the where's, and the who's. Tyson is not your average kind of guy or maybe he is. Tyson is from the streets and he knows with the streets along come consequences. But will he be able to help China when it comes to the consequences that she may not be ready to deal with. Kevin is known by many and respected by few. Kevin is all about his business; the business of making sure he was seen and heard by any means. Kevin is Mr. See-No-Evil, Hear-No-Evil, and Speak-No-Evil, but how long will Kevin continue to play this game, especially when it comes to China Black? Mia is China's best-friend and that's the way it's always been. China believes that if she didn't have Mia in her life she would absolutely go nuts. Throughout this story you will get to know Mia as well as the friendship that she and China shares. But will China and Mia continue on with their friendship or will something happen where they will have to call it quits? Diamond in the Rough was an excellent read, starting from the prologue until the end of the book. There was a lot of drama, suspense, and mystery as well. The book flows pretty good and I was on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what happened next. Everyone that you will meet in this book will play an important role in China Black's life. The supporting cast helped to add dimension to the story; I appreciate that the author didn't just throw characters out there and have you confused or wondering where they come from or why they were added to the book. Ms. Penelli did an overall excellent job on her book, however, I was upset with the amount of errors I noticed while reading. The editing errors were really bad, as well as the typesetting, both of which really takes away from the book. Errors and all, I still feel this is a worthwhile read.
