J. M. BENJAMIN finally came home the summer before last after a dozen years in prison, and within a day he was back on the streets, hustling again.

E. Lynn Harris Head Butts Homophobia
and the Black Church in One Fowl Swoop

NEW YORK, N.Y., September 2007

E. Lynn Harris’ novel, I Say a Little Prayer, which head butts two of the most controversial issues for Black Americans, church and homosexuals, was finally released by Doubleday in paperback form. McMillan’s Ex Now a Novelist
NEW YORK, N.Y., September 2007

Backstabbing + controversy = publishing deal, seems to be the equation running rampant in the entertainment industry. Jonathan Plummer, better known as Terri McMillan’s homosexual, ex-husband, has landed his hands on a pretty book deal with Simon and Schuster. Co-written by Karen Hunter, the woman behind many of today’s steamy tell-all, including Confessions of a Video Vixen and On the Down Low, Plummer’s first novel, Balancing Act is reportedly about a regular hardworking Jamaican man who is hell-bent on running his family’s sugar cane business before he is seduced by the vacationing owner of a well known modeling agency. Although touted as a strictly fictional tale, the story sounds all but a little reminiscent of the former Mr. and Ms. McMillan’s courtship, right down to the title (McMillan’s Disappearing Acts made her famous) for this all to be one big coincidence, but who knows, maybe it is right?

Video Vixen Vents Once Again
NEW YORK, N.Y., September 2007

Karrine Steffans, the reformed Video ho, has another head board banger slated for release on September 25, 2007. Her second novel, The Vixen Diaries, is whispered to be filled with kiss and tell tales that are sure to send a few more ripples through the homes of some of Hip-Hops top players. Rumored to include a totem pole of penis size and performance of some of the industry’s favorite performers (no pun intended), The Vixen Diaries, promises to be, if not better, up to par with the first installment.

O.J. Gets a New Deal
NEW YORK, N.Y., September 2007

Although canned by HarperCollins, before it could hit stores earlier this summer, O.J.’s, If I Did It is slated to see new light at the hands of Eric Kampmann who has reportedly ordered a 125,000 copy print run. Backed by the Goldman family, Kampmann reports that he already has in orders for over 116,000 copies of the first run.

At first word of this new edition of If I Did It, Barnes and Noble decided they would not carry the book in their stores, although the book would be available on its website. A few days later this decision was reversed, due in part to what they claim as buyer interest; the book would be indeed available in their stores. The book has an October 3, 2007 release date.
